Dr. James F. Brogle, Ph.D., H.S.P.P.

Clinical Director

My primary goal, as a therapist, is to improve the quality of life for all those who come into my office by improving their ability to deal with whatever life has, or will, throw their way. Whether your “emotional baggage” is from yesterday or when you were a young child, I have a variety of therapy techniques that can help you process the situation or event to help you leave it in the past and move forward. If your life is full of stress, anxiety, fear or depression, I want to help you sort it out, deal with it and move on to a happier, more fulfilled life.

I received my M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Florida. I then spent 10 years at the University of Notre Dame counseling students and staff before establishing my own private practice, which has been at the same location in South Bend for more than 30 years. I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, but can also be called a therapist, counselor, psychotherapist, psychologist, mental health professional or doctor. Therapy is not magic and I’m not a magician. There’s no magic cure, only hard work for the both of us to help you move past the “road blocks” in your life’s journey.

For many years my primary therapeutic focus had been the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy to help people deal with stressful life experiences:

  • Job/Life Stress
  • Grief
  • Depression
  • Marriage Counseling
  • Panic & Anxiety Attacks
  • Divorce Issues
  • Trauma

Over the last ten years I have adopted several new, effective techniques – EMDR and Life Integration that have greatly increased my effectiveness in helping clients overcome the debilitating symptoms of :

  • Trauma
  • Abuse (past or present)
  • Phobias
  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Painful childhood memories
  •  PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)

With the use of individual or marriage/couples therapy we can work together to help you have a life where you can “Be All That You Can Be.”

On a personal note, my wife and I have raised 6 children in South Bend and are now enjoying the life of doting grandparents. I have seen many, many types of emotional problems over the years, both personally and professionally, and have come to the conclusion that “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten. Change is the Key.” I firmly believe that if you’re not happy with the way your life is, you need to find out how to change it. That’s where I come in.

Call me at 574-213-9413 and I’ll be happy to help you figure it out.
